GoreBox APK: Android version guide and verified version history

Which GoreBox build is current on Android, how we checked, where the file legitimately comes from, how to install and update, and every version since 2022.

By Usman Shafqat · Updated 2026-10-12

GoreBox APK is the Android build of GoreBox, the free first-person physics sandbox from F²Games. The current version is 16.5.3, released 9 September 2026, and it needs Android 7.1 or newer. This page is a version guide, not a download host: it records which build is current and how we checked, where the file legitimately comes from, how to install and update it, and every version since the 2022 release, so that a version number you see in a video or on a mirror can be placed.

What we verified, and how. SandboxAPK does not host APK files. The current version number and requirements are taken from the official Google Play listing and the developer's in-app changelog. Third-party archives (Uptodown, Aptoide) are referenced only for older builds, and we compare their package name (com.F2Games.GBDE), publisher and version against the Play listing before listing them. Last verified: 24 September 2026.

What is GoreBox?

GoreBox is a sandbox: you load a map, open the spawn menu, and drop in props, vehicles, weapons and ragdoll characters called GoreDolls, then do whatever you want with them using the Reality Crusher, a gravity gun that grabs, throws, freezes and deletes. There is no story and no score. It's the closest thing to Garry's Mod on a phone, with a Workshop for maps and mods, a map editor, two hidden boss fights, and years of updates behind it. It's also extremely violent, and the 17+ rating is accurate. The GoreBox hub covers the game in full.

Play and Steam are the official stores. Uptodown and Aptoide are third-party archives that list the F²Games package under its publisher name and keep older builds; compare the package name and version number with the Play listing before installing anything from them. The GoreBox APK page lists every version and the install steps. SandboxAPK does not store game files.

Google Play is the official source and the one to use unless you have a reason not to. Uptodown and Aptoide are third-party archives: they list the publisher's file and keep older builds, which is why they're referenced here for versions Play no longer offers. Before installing from either, check the publisher (F²Games), the package name (com.F2Games.GBDE) and the version against the Play listing. SandboxAPK hosts nothing.

What's new in 16.5.3

A fixes build on top of the 16.4 weapons update: stability fixes for the attachment system, corrections to fire-mode behaviour on a few guns, Workshop loading fixes and Android crash fixes. 16.4 before it added silencers, underbarrel attachments, fire-mode selection (semi, burst, auto) and a new syringe. F²Games publishes patch notes inside the app (Settings → Changelog); the v16 page keeps a readable history.

GoreBox APK features

  • Reality Crusher tool gun with twelve modes (link, rope, wire, ignite, shrink, launch and more).
  • GoreDolls with a full skeleton, bleeding and limb damage, commandable by gesture since 16.3.
  • Firearms with attachments and fire modes, melee, explosives, and two earned weapons (Revengeance, Verse Punch).
  • Vehicles on land, air and water, all destructible.
  • Canvas map with five presets, structured stock maps, and a Workshop full of custom maps.
  • Map editor, modding console and Workshop for mods and skins.
  • Missions, Divine mode, nextbots, and the Observer and Verse Curse boss fights.
  • Friends-only multiplayer through your own Photon keys; full matchmaking lives in GoreBox 27.

Requirements

Android7.1 (Nougat) or newer. Installs on 7.x but crashes on some chipsets; 8+ is safer.
RAM3 GB minimum, 6 GB comfortable. The ragdoll limit in Settings decides how far a low-RAM phone gets.
Package sizesDownload package (xapk), 16.5.3: about 683 MB (APKPure and Uptodown listings). Older base APKs (16.3.x and earlier): 105 to 145 MB, before assets were bundled into the xapk. Installed: expect 1 GB and up, more with Workshop content.
Play servicesNeeded for the Workshop login and purchases. The game runs without them.

How to install the APK

  1. Download the .apk (or .xapk on Uptodown) to your phone.
  2. Open it. Android asks to allow installs from that browser or file manager; allow for this one install.
  3. For an .xapk, install the APKPure or Uptodown app first, or extract it with any file manager and install the .apk inside.
  4. Open GoreBox. Sign in for the Workshop if you use it.
  5. Updates don't come through Play for sideloaded installs; download the new version from the same mirror when it ships. The version page says what's current.

How to update GoreBox

  • Google Play install: Play → profile → Manage apps and device → Updates. Rollouts take a few days to reach every region.
  • Sideloaded install: download the new version from the same mirror and install over the top; saves stay. Play can't update a sideloaded copy.
  • Steam: updates automatically when the client opens.

If it crashes after updating, clear cache, then data, then reinstall; the crash-fix page has the full order.

Is the GoreBox APK safe?

From Google Play, yes. From a third-party archive, only after you've checked the publisher, package name and version match the Play listing; the archives referenced here have matched on every check we've made, but they are not the developer and we don't vouch for files we haven't compared. The risk is everywhere else. Download blogs and "mod" sites repackage the APK, and a repackaged GoreBox is the main source of the adware complaints in the game's reviews. If a page asks you to complete a survey, install other apps, or turn off Play Protect for more than the one install, close it.

Games before 2022 (Bloodbath, Classic, Remastered, Bloodlight) are separate apps, archived or deleted; the history page lists them. What each v16 patch added in detail is on the v16 page. Older builds can't reach the current Workshop and lack the security fixes later patches added; use them offline.

Who GoreBox is suitable for

GoreBox is aimed at players who want a physics sandbox with vehicles, weapons, ragdolls and user-created content. The Android version is free with advertising and optional purchases. The game contains graphic violence and carries an age rating appropriate to that content (17+ on Google Play). The points below are the practical trade-offs rather than a verdict.

Alternatives

  • GoreBox 27: the same studio's rebuild, with built-in multiplayer and less content. Its Android requirements are on that page.
  • Melon Sandbox: 2D, free, on iOS as well, the biggest mod library on phones.
  • The mobile sandbox roundup ranks the rest and lists the clones to skip.

Other apps by F²Games

GoreBox 27 (com.F2Games.GB27) is the only other current app. Older ones (Classic, Remastered, Bloodlight, GoreZone) are archived or deleted; the history page covers them and the studio that made them.

What to avoid

  • Mod APKs and "no ads" builds. Repackaged by strangers, often with adware, never updated. The game already has Divine mode and sandbox settings, and the ad-free pass is a one-time purchase. The mods page explains.
  • GoreBox APK for iOS. An APK can't install on iPhone. Every such page is a fake; see the iOS page.
  • GoreBox 27 mislabelled as an update. It's a separate app (com.F2Games.GB27). Its page is here.
  • Download blogs with a "verify" step. There is nothing behind the survey.

Common questions

Is the GoreBox APK free?

Yes. The game is free on Android with ads and optional purchases.

Is it safe to download GoreBox from Uptodown or Aptoide?

They are third-party archives, not the developer. Verify publisher, package name and version against Google Play before installing. On our checks they have matched; the download blogs generally don't.

What is the latest GoreBox APK version?

16.5.3 as of September 2026. The version page tracks it.

Can I install the APK on PC?

In an Android emulator, yes, but installing from Play inside the emulator is simpler. See the PC page.

Does the APK work on Android 6?

No. 7.1 is the minimum.
