GoreBox v16.5.3 and 16.5.2: the latest version

The current GoreBox version is 16.5.3. What's in it, how to update, and every v16 patch before it.

GoreBox v16.5.3 is the latest version on Android and Steam, released 9 September 2026 a few days after 16.5.2 (the build most people searched for) and 16.5.0 and 16.5.1 before it. v16 is the generation you're playing if you installed the game any time since 2025; it rebuilt a lot of the game's guts, brought modding back, and it's been patched steadily since: 16.3 in February, 16.4 in June, and 16.5.3 in September. This page is kept current: the top covers the build that's out now and how to update to it, the rest is the history.

16.5.3: the current build

A fixes build on top of the 16.4 weapons update, replacing 16.5.2 within days. F²Games publishes the notes inside the game rather than on Steam or the store listing: open Settings → Changelog in the app for the full list. From playing it and from the Discord: stability fixes for the attachment system 16.4 added, corrections to fire-mode behaviour on a few guns, Workshop loading fixes, and general crash fixes on Android. No new maps or weapons in this one. If you're on 16.5.0, 16.5.1 or 16.5.2 the difference is small; update anyway, since Workshop creators build against the current build.

How to update to 16.5.3

Android

1. Google Play → profile → Manage apps and device → Updates available. GoreBox shows there when a new build is out.
2. Not listed yet? Open the GoreBox listing directly; the button reads Update when your region has it. Rollouts take a few days to reach everyone.
3. Installed from Uptodown or Aptoide? Play can't update those. Reinstall from Play, or download the new build from the same mirror; the APK page lists them.

Steam

Steam updates on its own when you open the client. If it doesn't, right-click GoreBox → Properties → Updates → Always keep this game updated, then restart Steam.

Why does my game show a different version?

• Play rollout. Updates reach devices over a few days. Check again tomorrow.
• You installed an APK. Mirror sites lag Play by days to weeks, and mod APKs never update.
• You're playing GoreBox 27 or Classic. Separate F²Games apps with their own version numbers. The main game's package is com.F2Games.GBDE.
• Beta channel. If you joined the Play beta, you may be ahead of this page.

Crashing after the update? Both 16.4 and 16.5.3 produced a wave of startup crashes on Android, almost all from partial updates. Clear cache, then data, then reinstall from Play; the full order is on the crash page.

Patch history

v16 and 16.1: the big one

• Many new weapons and a large batch of props and entities.
• New maps plus a winter theme across the existing ones.
• Heavily improved character customisation.
• Reworked models and visuals; the cartoonier textures from v14 and v15 got another pass.
• Modding returned after being pulled in earlier versions. The Workshop and modding API came back with it.

16.3.30: the gameplay patch

This is the patch most people mean when they talk about "the new GoreBox update".

• Canvas map, replacing Void, Plains and Sea. One map with presets you switch between: Void, Plains, Desert, Snow and Ocean.
• Gestures, and the ability to command GoreDolls with them. Point and they follow, wave and they stop.
• Better GoreDoll stumbling and AI.
• Radial menus for firearms and for the Reality Crusher's modes and gestures. Multiple magazine options for every gun.
• New player animations and third-person shooting effects.
• Missions, with a checkpoint warp entity for map makers.
• Divine mode, turned on with the /divine command: flight-charge attacks, heavy punches, kicks and throws. Plus dropkicking (jump, then kick), which was added to stop bunny-hop hit-and-runs in PvP.
• Four new nextbots (Gift, Serrano, Music Man, Sgt. G.D.), an axe, an ACOG optic, dynamic clouds, and a new Workshop map by samllea1. Nextbots now break down doors. The wiki page lists every nextbot and boss.

16.3.56: the multiplayer removal

Mostly stability and balance. This is also the first build after F²Games removed official multiplayer, which happened on 11 March 2026. The servers had been hammered by exploiters and bot raids, and the studio pulled the plug while it fixed the underlying security problems. 16.4: the weapons update

Released in June 2026 and billed by the community as the biggest update the game has had. The changes are almost all about guns and how they handle:

• Silencers as an attachment, changing sound and AI reaction.
• Underbarrel attachments (grips and launchers) on the firearm radial menu.
• Fire-mode selection: semi, burst and full-auto on weapons that support it.
• A new syringe added to the medical set.
• A large batch of smaller balance passes and bug fixes; the full list is in the in-game changelog.

What's next: GoreBox 27

The rebuild F²Games previewed through the spring as GB26 shipped on Google Play in September as GoreBox 27, in early access at version 0.13.x. That's where multiplayer has returned, with matchmaking, bots and crossplay. It's a separate app; the main game keeps getting updates alongside it.

Play and Steam are the official stores. Uptodown and Aptoide are third-party archives that list the F²Games package under its publisher name and keep older builds; compare the package name and version number with the Play listing before installing anything from them. The GoreBox APK page lists every version and the install steps. SandboxAPK does not store game files.
