GoreBox history and the studio behind it
There have been at least eight GoreBox games from F²Games. Most are gone. This is what each one was, which two to install today, and who makes them.
GoreBox history is confusing because F²Games has released several games under the name, and old videos, APK sites and wiki pages mix them up. The current game is GoreBox, sometimes still called GoreBox Animosity, on version 16.5.3. The rebuilt one is GoreBox 27. Everything else on this page is either archived or deleted. Here they are in order.
Timeline
| Game | Year | What it was | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bloodbath | 2019 | The first game. A mobile ragdoll sandbox with five weapons and the first GoreDolls. Chat commands started here. | Archived on the F²Games itch.io page |
| GoreBox Classic | 2020 | Bloodbath's successor, simpler physics, the Reality Crusher's first form. | Archived |
| GoreBox Remastered | 2020–2021 | A rebuild of Classic with better visuals and the tool that Melon Sandbox's Tool Gun is a nod to. | Archived; the wiki keeps its own GoreDoll page |
| Discord Early Access prototype | 2021 | Test builds of what became Animosity, shared on the F²Games Discord. | Archived |
| Bloodlight (GoreBox 2) | 2021 | A separate game similar to GoreZone, with Gary Sato on the icon. When people search "GoreBox 2", this is what they find. | Deleted |
| GoreZone | 2021 | A spin-off arena shooter. | Deleted |
| GoreBox (Animosity) | 29 July 2022 | The current main game: Android free, Steam $8.99 since July 2023, now v16.5.3. "Animosity" and "Definitive Edition" were subtitles it dropped. | Live |
| GoreBox 27 | September 2026 | The rebuilt engine, early access, where multiplayer lives now. | Live |

Release years come from the studio's itch.io archive and the community wiki's version history; the 2022 and 2023 dates from the Google Play and Steam listings; the September 2026 GoreBox 27 date from its Google Play listing. Where the wiki and the archive disagreed on a year, the archive's upload date is used.
Why so many versions
Two reasons. F²Games was a very small studio iterating in public, so each big engine change shipped as a new app rather than an update. And a copyright dispute with the game's original music artist led to most of the early series being pulled; the current game was the one rebuilt to survive it. A planned prequel spin-off, Uncoha, was announced on Discord and cancelled.
Which one should you install
- GoreBox (v16.5.3) (file and every version on the GoreBox APK page) for the full sandbox: Workshop, weapons, bosses, syringes, missions. Guide on the GoreBox hub.
- GoreBox 27 to play with friends online.
- The archived games on itch.io are worth ten minutes if you're curious how it started. They're unsupported and they can't reach any Workshop.
- "GoreBox 2", "Classic" and "Remastered" APKs on download sites are old builds of deleted games, or the current game mislabelled. Don't install them for anything but nostalgia.
Who makes GoreBox: F²Games and GDev
F²Games is the developer of every game in the table. It was founded by Felix Filip, known in the community as GDev, and it has stayed small: a founder, a few team members, and a group of community developers credited in patch notes. The studio dates its founding to the day Bloodbath was made; its first widely-played title was a multiplayer horror game while GoreBox was in testing.
Updates ship to Android first, Steam a few days later. Patch notes appear on the F²Games Discord and X account before anywhere else, and often only inside the game's changelog. Community developers have built real parts of the game: the 16.3 Workshop backend is credited to samllea1, and the old role-play map's cybernetics store owner was a team member. Modding is encouraged; the modding documentation is a PDF linked from the Discord.

Common questions
Is GoreBox 2 real?
It was: Bloodlight, a separate 2021 game since deleted. GoreBox 27 is the actual successor to the current game.
Can I still play Bloodbath?
The mobile build is archived on the F²Games itch.io page. It runs on older Android; expect nothing to work online.
What's the difference between GoreBox and GoreBox Animosity?
None. Animosity was the subtitle of the current game at launch in 2022; the package name (com.F2Games.GBDE) still carries the "Definitive Edition" initials.
Who made GoreBox?
F²Games, founded by Felix Filip (GDev). A founder and a small team with community contributors; the studio doesn't publish an address.
Is GoreBox Remastered the same as the current game?
No. Remastered is a 2020 game. The current one was built fresh in 2022.
Who is Phil Timsky in GoreBox?
The player character. A former researcher who became a god with the Reality Crusher and split the universe into timelines.
Is Gary Sato a boss?
Announced, never shipped. He's in the game as a masked character.
Who made GoreBox?
F²Games, founded by Felix Filip, known as GDev. The history page covers the studio's games.
Does GoreBox 27 continue the story?
Not yet. F²Games has mentioned a singleplayer campaign for the main game; that's where new lore would land.
GoreBox lore
There is a story under the sandbox. This is what F²Games has confirmed, and what's fan theory.
GoreBox lore exists, and most of it has been confirmed by GDev, the F²Games founder, in a video titled "GoreBox's Lore Explained (+ New Lore)" and in Discord announcements. The game itself only hints at it: white-eyed bosses, a character named on a map, a deleted-player cutscene. This section separates what's confirmed from what fans have added.
Phil Timsky
Phil Timsky is the player. Every player. F²Games has said that no matter how you customise your character, you are a clone or variant of Phil, and that's the in-universe reason the game has infinite players who all look different and all carry a Reality Crusher.
Before that, Phil was a researcher. He and Gary Sato grew up together and shared a fixation on science and technology. Phil withdrew into his projects, became paranoid, and, according to the confirmed version, created or helped create the Uncoha virus, the sickness that turns people hostile or into mutants and that the mutants in the game carry. The Uncoha wiki motto ("spread the Uncoha sickness") is a reference to it.
Gary Sato
Gary worried about Phil and broke into his house to check on him. Phil, delusional from isolation, mistook him for an intruder and fired the Reality Crusher at him. The beam hardened Gary's bones to steel and left him unable to move. That ended the friendship and is the wound the whole story turns on. Gary later learned to work around the injury with powers of his own and went looking for revenge, while Phil went into hiding.
Gary exists in the game as a character with a mask, and in the icon of the deleted GoreBox 2 (Bloodlight). A Gary Sato boss fight was announced on Discord and never shipped; what's in the game is a test that ignores the Verse Curse. Whether he returns is unknown.
The Reality Crusher and the multiverse
Phil finished the Reality Crusher and used it on himself, becoming something close to a god: the wiki's comparison is Doctor Manhattan. The universe split into timelines, each with its own Phil. Phil himself never gets bored; the clones do, which is the lore's explanation for what players spend their time doing. The RCV2 you hold is that weapon.
The Observer and the Verse Curse
Both bosses are variants of Phil, confirmed by GDev. They attack the player because they see an intruder in their timeline, the same way Phil saw one in Gary. That's why the Verse Curse has white glowing eyes and why it's named "Observer" in the game files. How to fight them is on the bosses page.
Confirmed versus fan theory
| Confirmed by F²Games | Fan theory |
|---|---|
| Every player is Phil Timsky. | Phil alone created Uncoha (the wiki hedges with "possibly"). |
| The Gary Sato accident and its cause. | Gary is the Abomination. |
| Observer and Verse Curse are Phil variants. | GoreBox 27 is a different timeline. |
| Uncoha is the mutant sickness; a prequel game named Uncoha was planned and cancelled. | Everything about Steele Leaf and Chaos Corp beyond the implant names. |

Easter eggs that touch the lore
- Delete the player with the RCV2 and a cutscene plays before the map restarts.
- Name easter eggs: certain nicknames change things in the game. The wiki keeps the list; they change between builds.
- The implant makers (Chaos Corp, Proto-Corp, Steele Leaf) are the only corporations named; see the implants page.
